I handled the process of starting to date again with my child, simply by not telling her about it. I felt that if somebody comes along who is fantastic and we are in a very serious relationship, then I would probably mention it to her if the talk between me and my new partner was along the lines of us moving in together. I don't want her to think that every man who comes into our home to pick me up for a date is going to be her next step-father. I am going to wait until I meet the right man, the talk is that we are moving in together, and let her have the time to know him and love him the same way that I love him. Move on in that way.
