The best advice I could give about divorcing with children is that at some point you have to stop feeling guilty. You have to stop feeling badly that you married the person or that the marriage wasn't good. And more than anything, do not stay in a marriage just because you think it's better for the kids. The truth of the matter is I believe that when you are in a bad marriage, the mistake has already been made. You made the mistake long before you ever had kids .The remedy is divorce. And the only way to move on with your life, and to free your kids to move on, and for people to find peace and happiness sometimes is divorce. I think there are a lot of people who believe that divorce is a shortcut. I think they think it's the easy way out and they think that you are hurting your children. But I believe having been down the road that a lot of people who get divorced, certainly speaking for myself, tried everything, tried making it work. And the truth of the matter is, what was best for everyone was to get divorced. And I do remind myself everyday that I did this not just for myself, but I also did this for my kids. And we are all better off. and I remind myself to stop feeling so guilty. I can't change the past. I can't rewrite it. All we can do is love each other and move forward.
