So a very common question would be: If my eggs are too old, is my body too old to carry a pregnancy? And the answer is no. Unlike the ovaries, the uterus does not understand a biologic age. And as a result of that, if eggs are derived in the form of a egg donor, a very young woman who has healthy eggs, and those eggs are fertilized with her partner´s sperm and those embryos are placed into her uterus, provided that she is otherwise healthy, she will be able to sustain that pregnancy just as anyone else at a younger age would. The caveat is that once women age beyond the age of 50, if pregnancy is considered, there should be a thorough work up to verify that there is no issues medically. So that may include for example an electrocardigram of the heart. It may include screening to make sure that there is no evidence of diabetes. It would also evaluate blood pressure to make sure that they are not at risk for something called toximenia in pregnancy.
