How involved the adopting parents are in the birth of the child at the hospital may depend on the laws of the state where the baby is being born as well as the hospital policies. But aside from that, birth moms are able to pick who they want to have with them during labor and delivery, actually in the hospital room with them when they deliver the baby. Some adopting parents cut the umbilical cord and they are able to be present during the entire process. It is really up to the birth mom to pick how she wants her delivery to go. And the hospitals will normally go with the wishes of the birth mom because she is the patient.
