We considered a number of different avenues for adoption, we found out that internationally, there is only two countries in the world that allow guy couples or gay people to adopt. So we crossed that off the list. Plus we knew it was going to be very expensive. We looked at surrogacy, but had heard that you need to start at about at least 100 thousand dollars. So we crossed that off the list. And with foster care there is always the chance that the child will be claimed by their parent, which is often a good thing, but we knew that would break our heart. So ultimately, we decided to do open adoption, which we felt was best for us and also for our child.
