An adoptive parent can be as selective as they want to be in adopting. I like to tell my clients that if they want, they can look for a Norwegian birth mom who's five feet eight and a Swedish birth father who's six foot four. It may take a long time to find that, but if you want to be selective, you can be as selective as you choose. There's a tradeoff; the more selective you are, the harder it's gonna be to find, the more expensive it may be, and the longer it may take. But it is your choice. You're never in a position where you have to go forward in a situation that you're not comfortable with. So you need to recognize what you're looking for and go on a path that's likely to find that for you.
