Transcription:
Kids who experience depression are at increased risk for future episodes, and they are at increased risk for subsequent struggles with depression as adults. What we try to do is we try to teach them about their own early warning signs. Everyone's depression is a little bit different. Some kids may have trouble sleeping, other kids may have reduced appetite and other kids may get irritable. We try to teach them how to manage their own depression. Not to be afraid of it, but to realize that this is something that may happen again. When they start to see those warning signs, to kind of raise their hand, so that we can get them the help they need as soon as possible. Hopefully, before they descend into a full episode of depression.
