If one person in the family is diagnosed with lice everyone needs to be checked because it is really easy to contract lice from people that you are living with. Especially if you are sleeping in the same bed as them or using their brushes. We always want to make sure that everyone in the house is checked so that we don't give the lice back and froth amongst family members. You don't have to worry about lice carrying disease. You could live your entire life with lice and be perfectly fine.
