When we met our birth mother and we decided that we would be moving forward with the adoption, we did set up a birth plan with our agency and our birth mother and with Bill and I.
It was a two and a half hour meeting about what kinds of things we both expected out of the adoption, the birth mother, and us, as the adoptive parents. With that, we set up how many photos would be shared, how often or if at all, the birth mother could visit Simone.
As for us, it turned out wonderfully because we actually do a lot more with our birth mother, as far as sending pictures and cards, and that kind of stuff. As far as the visits, our birth mother doesn't live here, so we haven't really gotten to see her a lot. We do talk on the phone and keep in touch that way. It's been very nice.
