Transcription:
An agency has a different approach than a lawyer. An agency is there to ensure that the integrity of the process. They are there to make sure the mother´s rights are being met and they are sort of in the middle as opposed to being a lawyer. As a lawyer, I represent clients. And a client comes to me saying I want to adopt a healthy newborn baby, my job is to help them adopt a healthy newborn baby. I am not going to be in the middle. I am going to be on the side of the adopting parents. Now the birth parents can get legal representation if they want. The birth parents can have an agency representing them, but I am representing the adoptive parents. And my job is to help my clients achieve the result of the adoption, as opposed to the agency which is there really to meet the needs of the birth mother and try and reconcile those with the needs of the adopting parents. So it´s a totally different position to be in.
